Product Information

Name:
4-Nitro-3H-Imidazole
Synonyms:
  • Cl 205086
  • 5-nitro-1H-imidazole
Description:

4-Nitro-3H-Imidazole has been found to have a matrix effect on nitro compounds in the reaction solution. It is also involved in the reaction mechanism and kinetic energy of the reaction. 4-Nitro-3H-Imidazole has been shown to be genotoxic and inhibitory against solid tumours. This compound has been shown to have inhibitory properties against metronidazole, which is an antibiotic drug used for treating bacterial infections. The redox potential of 4-Nitro-3H-Imidazole is higher than that of metronidazole, suggesting that it may have a stronger antimicrobial activity. 4-Nitroimidazole can be synthesized from nitric acid and ammonia, or by reacting nitrous acid with ammonia or ammonium chloride. Nitrogen atoms are used for its synthesis, which are obtained from air or natural gas.
