3-Nitro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine is a reactive chemical that has been shown to be an alkylating agent. It is a trisubstituted compound with the nitro group on the third carbon of the imidazopyrimidine ring. 3-Nitro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine has been shown to react with ethylenic compounds and dioxygen to form ethylenamines and oximes. 3-Nitro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine also reacts with nitrous acid to form anions such as nitrite and nitrate. This chemical is classified as a class 2B carcinogen.
