Description:
2-Nitrophenylboronic acid pinacol ester is a boronic acid that has been shown to catalyze the synthesis of nitrobenzene. Conditions for this reaction include refluxing in an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide and methanol, and the addition of hydrochloric acid. This reaction can be used to synthesize 2-nitrophenylboronic acid pinacolester, which can be recrystallized from an alkaline solution. The catalyst is selective and has a high degree of activity.
