- 4-methyl-N-(4-methylphenyl)-N-(4-nitrophenyl)aniline
4-Nitro-phenyl)-di-p-tolyl-amine is a planar, functionalized molecule that is used as an electron acceptor in dye-sensitized solar cells. A typical dye sensitizer is a porphyrin compound that absorbs light and then transfers the energy to the electron acceptor. The electron acceptor, 4-nitro-phenyl)-di-p-tolyl-amine, accepts electrons and transports them to the electrode where they are reduced to form hydrogen gas. This process generates a photocurrent which can be used as an electrical current. The efficiency of this material is dependent on its density and coefficients, which have been measured at 1.03 cm3/molecule and 0.33 eV per molecule, respectively.
