N,N-diethyl-4-iodobenzamide is an opioid receptor ligand that binds to the δ-opioid receptor and inhibits the efflux of neurotransmitters. N,N-diethyl-4-iodobenzamide has been shown to bind to the δ-opioid receptor in positron emission tomography studies using a radioactive isotope. This radiotracer is being studied as a potential drug for opiate addiction treatment. N,N-diethyl-4-iodobenzamide has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of Pgp and MRP1, which are efflux transporters that play a role in drug resistance. These properties make it a potential candidate for brain imaging studies and biodistribution studies.
