N-[Chloro(dimethylamino)boranyl]-N-methylmethanamine (CDMBM) is a borane-based compound that has been shown to exhibit antifungal activity. CDMBM is synthesized by refluxing hexane with an excess of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide in a 1:1 ratio. It reacts with the chloride ion, yielding a positive charge. The electron deficient nature of this molecule results in its high electronegative character and its ability to form anions with other compounds. CDMBM has been shown to be effective against Candida albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus, but not Penicillium chrysogenum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes
