Product Information
- 2-Thiophenecarboxylic Acid, 4-Nitro-
4-Nitro-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid (NTA) is a ligand that binds to specific DNA, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonding interactions with the phosphate group. It is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to be effective against some bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacter aerogenes. NTA also has been shown to have a protective effect against radiation in mice when given before or after exposure. The protective effect of this drug may be due to its ability to inhibit acetylation of proteins by acetyltransferase enzymes, which leads to increased levels of acetylated proteins and decreased levels of nonacetylated proteins.
