Name:
Neosilyhermin A
Synonyms:
  • 4H-1-Benzopyran-4-one, 2-[2,3-dihydro-7-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-4-benzofuranyl]-2,3-dihydro-5,7-dihydroxy-
Description:

Neosilyhermin A is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have potent proapoptotic activity in cancer cells. It was found to inhibit the proliferation of human chronic viral hepatitis cells (HCV) by targeting the viral-encoded polyprotein. Neosilyhermin A has also been shown to decrease the release of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines from HCV-infected hepatocytes, which may be due to its ability to act as an inhibitor of radical coupling reactions in vivo. The anticancer effects of neosilyhermin A are related to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis by interfering with the polymerase process.
