Product Information
- N-Cinnamoyl-N-(2,3-xylyl)hydroxylamine
- (2E)-N-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)-N-hydroxy-3-phenylprop-2-enamide
N-Cinnamoyl-N-(2,3-xylyl)-hydroxylamine is a catalytic agent that has been used as an analytical reagent for the determination of organic acids in ion chromatography. It is also used as a light emitter in the analysis of organic compounds by infrared absorption spectroscopy and electrothermal chromatography. This compound can be prepared by reacting hydrochloric acid with 2,3-dimethoxybenzaldehyde. N-Cinnamoyl-N-(2,3-xylyl)-hydroxylamine is soluble in water and hydrochloric acid, but insoluble in ether. The compound catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen chloride to hydrogen gas and chloride ions when heated at high temperature.
