Description

(1R)-(-)-Nopol is a terpenoid compound that has been found to be effective in killing mosquitoes. It is synthesized from benzyl alcohol by microbial transformation with Pseudomonas sp. The compound undergoes biotransformations, including the conversion of benzyl alcohol to chromanone and subsequent conversion of chromanone to (1R)-(-)-nopol.
