Product Information
Valsartan is a drug that belongs to the group of tetracyclic compounds. It is used for the treatment of high blood pressure, heart failure and kidney disease. Valsartan is also an impurity in N-(diazirino[1,3-f]phenanthridin-4-ylmethyl)-N-isobutylpentanamide (DFPP). DFPP is a new antihypertensive agent that binds to alpha 1 receptors in the brain, inhibiting the release of norepinephrine. It has been shown to have no photodegradation or photostability problems and it was found to be more stable than valsartan in simulated light conditions. DFPP was also found to be more potent than valsartan on its own as well as with other drugs in laboratory tests.
