Product Information
- 1-Methyl-3-nitro-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indoleNitro-trp-P-2
3-Nitro-1-methyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole is a structural analog of tinctorum. It has been shown to have high binding affinity for the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes in bacterial cells. 3NMPI also inhibits the production of heterocyclic amines, which are carcinogenic compounds that are formed by cooking meat at high temperatures. 3NMPI has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against typhimurium and other bacteria, but can be toxic to mammalian cells when used at concentrations higher than 20 μg/mL. The use of this compound as an antibiotic is limited because it has been found to cause hemolysis in animal models.
