Product Information
- Acetone 4-nitrophenylhydrazone2-(4-Nitrophenyl)hydrazone propanone
4-Nitrobenzeneazomalononitrile is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits lipoxygenase and prostaglandin synthetase. It is used to treat tuberculosis, but has no effect on tuberculostatic activity. 4-Nitrobenzeneazomalononitrile has a tautomeric form, which can be converted by the soybean lipoxygenase enzyme to the ketone form. This conversion prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins and thioglycolate molecules. The molecular structure of 4-nitrobenzeneazomalononitrile consists of a phenylhydrazone group linked to a nitrile group with two acetamide groups attached to it.
