Description:

2-Nitrofuran is a nitrofuran that is used as a pharmacological agent and also as a matrix effect in biological samples. The rate constant of 2-nitrofuran has been determined by squamous cell carcinoma cells, which have shown an increased rate of DNA synthesis due to the presence of this drug. Nitrofurans are also known to have antiinflammatory activity. 2-Nitrofuran has been shown to inhibit the growth of Candida glabrata, an opportunistic fungal pathogen, in vitro and in vivo. This drug can be detected using analytical methods such as chromatography or colloidal gold.
