2-(Nitro methylene) thiazolidine is an active methylene compound that is used as a medicine. It is catalysed by amines to form nitrosamines and reacts with xylene to form nitro compounds. 2-(Nitro methylene) thiazolidine has been shown to be synthesised in the presence of various functional groups, such as alcohols, carboxylic acids, phenols and sulfonic acids. This compound has been shown to have anticancer activity against cancer cells and aldehydes.
