Description:
7-Nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline is a concomitantly synthesized nitro compound. It is a competitive antagonist at α and β adrenergic receptor subtypes. The affinity of 7-Nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline for the α receptor is about 8 times higher than for the β receptor. This drug has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of noradrenaline release from synaptosomes. 7-Nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline also binds to chloride in the central nervous system and may be used as an intervention for patients with fluid retention or hypertension.
