1-Naphthol-5-sulfonic acid is a naphthol compound that can be synthesized by reacting 1-naphthol and sulfuryl chloride in the presence of thiourea. It has a particle size of less than one micron and a UV spectrum peak at 360 nm. The radiation absorption spectrum has a red shift when irradiated with light. 1-Naphthol-5-sulfonic acid is used as a photoelectron emitter in electron microscopy, and also exhibits photocatalytic activity with organic compounds such as naphthalene.
