Description:

2-(N-Methylanilino)ethanol is a synthetic compound with a hydroxyl group at the 2 position. It is used as a polymerization initiator in the synthesis of polymers, such as polyesters and polyamides. 2-(N-Methylanilino)ethanol can be copolymerized with other compounds to form block or graft copolymers. The reactive groups on this compound allow it to be converted into other functional groups, including amines, alcohols, and carboxylic acids. This compound has also been shown to be able to initiate polymerization reactions spontaneously in organic solvents such as acetone or chloroform.
