Nickel acetate is a nickel salt with the chemical formula Ni(OAc)2. It is an oxidizing agent that has been used as a catalyst in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and as a reagent for surface methodology. Nickel acetate is also used in hydroxylation reactions to form alcohols, esters, or other organic compounds. The reaction of nickel acetate with sodium citrate produces particles that are resistant to oxidation by air or water. This property makes nickel acetate useful for the preparation of high-resistance particles for use in preparative hplc systems. Nickel acetate has been shown to have a high level of reactivity towards epidermal growth factor (EGF).
