4-Nitroindan is a nitro compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of 4-nitrophenol and hydrogen sulfate. It has been shown to have an inhibition rate of 45% using voltammetry. 4-Nitroindan inhibits the hydroxyl group of aromatic hydrocarbons, which leads to its anion form. The protonated form is hydrophobic, making it ideal for biological applications. 4-Nitroindan has also been shown to have strong biological properties in vivo, such as anti-inflammatory effects and reduced tumor growth. However, this chemical is not suitable for use in hydrophilic environments due to its high solubility in water.
