Nizofenone fumarate is a drug that belongs to the class of esters and has a hydrochloride salt. It is used in veterinary medicine, primarily for the treatment of dogs with acute ischemic, aneurysmal subarachnoid, or acute spinal cord injury. Nizofenone fumarate is also used for the treatment of animals with locomotor activity disorders. Nizofenone fumarate has been shown to have a low expression in mammalian cells. The mechanism of action is not well understood, but this drug may inhibit transport rates and acylation reactions in mitochondria. In addition, it has been shown to stimulate energy metabolism by increasing the expression of hydroxyapatite and papillary muscle proteins.
