Description

3-(1-Naphthyl)-L-alanine is a cyclic peptide that contains a 3-aminopropionic acid residue. It acts as a potent antagonist of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptors, which are important in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. The disulfide bond maintains the cyclic nature of 3-(1-naphthyl)-L-alanine. This drug has been shown to have anticancer activity against HL60 cells, which is due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and induce apoptosis. 3-(1-Naphthyl)-L-alanine has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of angiogenesis.
