2-(4-Nitrophenyl)propionitrile is an organocatalyst that is used in the synthesis of a variety of organic compounds. The catalytic activity of this compound has been studied using hyperthermia, which increases the rate at which molecules react, and kinetic parameters, such as the nature of the substrate, diazo compounds, cyclohexanone, propanamide, and aldehydes. This organocatalyst has been shown to be potent antagonist for vanilloid receptors (TRPV1).
