Product Information
N1-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-ethane-1,2-diamine is a synthetic diaminobenzene that has been used to treat tuberculosis and cancer. It is also known to be an orienting agent for homologous and heterologous pairs of ethambutol molecules. The supramolecular assembly of this drug with ethambutol is thought to be the reason for its high efficiency in treating tuberculosis. N1-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-ethane-1,2-diamine has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on tumour cells in cell lines that are resistant to chemotherapeutic drugs. This drug also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by causing DNA damage through nitration and by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acids. N1-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-ethane-1,2-diamine may also act as an optical chromophore in some cases
