Name:
2-Naphthaleneboronic acid pinacol ester
Synonyms:
  • 4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-2-Naphthalen-2-Yl-1,3,2-Dioxaborolane
  • 2-Naphthaleneboronic Acid, Pinacol Ester
Description:

2-Naphthaleneboronic acid pinacol ester (2NBPE) is a boronic acid that can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. The compound has been shown to react with different types of molecules, such as flavones, chromanones and biomolecules. 2NBPE is also able to form esters with arylboronic acids, which are then oxidized to yield chromanones. This reaction is catalyzed by oxidative conditions such as hydrogen peroxide or molecular oxygen. 2NBPE can be used for the synthesis of other compounds through the coupling with carbonyls and alcohols.
