Product Information
7-Nitro-2(1H)-quinoxalinone is an antimalarial drug that belongs to the class of quinoxalines. It is used in the treatment of trypanosomiasis, and has been shown to be active against human mammalian cells infected with Trypanosoma brucei. 7-Nitro-2(1H)-quinoxalinone is orally active and can be administered in advance stages of the disease when circulating levels of hemoglobin are low. 7-Nitro-2(1H)-quinoxalinone has been found to have some activity against Trichomonas vaginalis, but not against Trichomonas tenax or Trichomonas foetus. This drug also exhibits ultraviolet absorption properties, which may contribute to its antimalarial activity.
