Nonafluorobutanesulfonic anhydride is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that is synthesized from butenesulfonyl chloride and propargyl alcohol. It can be used as a polymerization initiator for cationic polymerizations. The heat resistance of nonafluorobutanesulfonic anhydride is higher than other similar compounds, allowing it to be used in polymerization reactions at elevated temperatures. Nonafluorobutanesulfonic anhydride has been shown to have anti-hiv drug activities and is being investigated as a potential chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment.
