Description:
Di-n-propyl malonate is a synthetic process that produces malonic acid from ethyl acetate. This compound is used as a catalyst in the production of polycarboxylic acids and esters from magnesium and carboxylic acids. Di-n-propyl malonate also reacts with metal ions such as magnesium, aluminum, or zinc to form organic salts. The hydroxide solution of this compound can be used to produce polyolefins with functional groups such as methacrylate esters.
