Product Information
- Benzeneacetaldehyde, 4-Nitro-Alpha-Oxo-
- para-Nitrophenylglyoxal
4-Nitrophenylglyoxal is an organic compound that is found in many plants and animals. It has been shown to bind to single-stranded DNA, inhibiting the synthesis of amino acids. Nitrophenylglyoxal also inhibits the activity of certain enzymes, such as nitrate reductase and acid dehydrogenase. This second order rate constant has been determined experimentally by measuring the nitrite concentration over time. The reaction between 4-nitrophenylglyoxal and chloride was found to be first order with respect to both reactants, indicating a competitive inhibition mechanism for this reaction.
4-Nitrophenylglyoxal has been shown to inhibit creatine synthesis by binding to the enzyme acid creatine hydrolase (ACHE). This binding prevents ACHE from accessing its substrate, which leads to decreased production of creatine.
