Description

Na-Benzoyl-D-phenylalanine is an active analogue of the amino acid L-phenylalanine. It has been shown to have potent activity as an optical sensor in x-ray crystal structures, and has been used in eye disorders and infectious diseases. Na-Benzoyl-D-phenylalanine inhibits a number of enzyme activities, such as those involved in the synthesis of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. This compound also has antiapoptotic properties that inhibit apoptosis pathway activation by inhibiting receptor activity and chemical stability. In addition, it inhibits choroidal neovascularization in rats with experimental ocular hypertension.
