2-Nitroacetanilide is a chemical compound that is a member of the 2-nitrobenzenesulfonamide class of drugs. It has been used in the treatment of glaucoma. 2-Nitroacetanilide has been shown to be effective against bambuterol, an agent used to treat asthma.
2-Nitroacetanilide binds to albumin in the human serum and prevents it from binding to fatty acids, which are important components of biological membranes. This binding causes an increase in the proton concentration and may lead to changes in membrane structure and function.
