1-Naphthylhydrazine hydrochloride is a synthetic compound that is used as an analytical reagent for the detection of aromatic hydrocarbons in environmental samples. It is also used as a cancer therapeutic agent, which can be applied topically or injected intravenously. 1-Naphthylhydrazine hydrochloride has been shown to induce apoptosis in cervical cancer cell lines and has been found to be more effective than other compounds in inhibiting the growth of prostate cancer cells. It also induces tumor regression with minimal side effects due to its lack of toxicity against normal tissue.
