Description:

(1-Naphthylmethyl)triphenylphosphonium Chloride is a reagent that is used in the Wittig reaction. It reacts with carbonyl compounds to form phosphoranes. This compound can be used as a bathochromic shift reagent or as an expressed vibrational reagent. The spectral properties of this product are similar to those of other chlorides, such as muconic acid and tetrahydrofuran, but it has a different electronic spectra because of its electron-donating ability. The reagents can be used to measure the amount of chloride ion present in a sample.
