Naphthalene is a molecule that belongs to the class of chemical substances. It has been shown to react with ethyl diazoacetate to form 1-naphthalenethiol. This reaction mechanism is a surface-enhanced Raman process in which the cationic polymerization of 3-mercaptopropionic acid and fatty acid occurs on the particle surface. The reaction products are polymers with high molecular weights, which show a strong interaction with tuberculosis bacteria and inhibit their growth rate.
