Description:

Nitronium hexafluorophosphate is a radical chain initiator that is used in organic synthesis to initiate the conversion of organic acids to their corresponding esters. In addition, it can be used as an acid catalyst in the formation of acid solutions. Nitronium hexafluorophosphate reacts with oxygen and water to form nitric oxide, which can react with other molecules such as acetonitrile and demethylation products. It has been shown to be reactive with molybdenum and dinitrogen tetroxide.
