Description:
N-Nitrosobis(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-Heptafluorobutyl)Amine (NOBFBA) is a nitrosamine that is mutagenic and carcinogenic in rats. It has been shown to be metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to form nitrite and methylate. NOBFBA binds to the enzyme aldehyde reductase and prevents it from reducing nitrites to nitrates. This leads to increased levels of nitrites in urine and faeces. In addition, NOBFBA can be metabolized by fluorine into protonated molecules that bind with DNA.
