4-Nitro-2-(1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethyl)-6-(Trifluoromethyl)-1H-Benzimidazole is a novel fluorinated benzimidazole that has been shown to have immune modulating properties. It can induce the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines in vitro by stimulating the immune system. 4-Nitro-2-(1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethyl)-6-(Trifluoromethyl)-1H-Benzimidazole also induces DNA repair and can protect against oxidative damage. This drug has been shown to be non-toxic to rats and mice at doses up to 2 g/kg body weight.
