Description:
6-(9H-Carbazol-4-yloxymethyl)-4-[2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl]morpholin-3-one (SCH 66336) is a modulator of calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in cardiac and skeletal muscle. SCH 66336 binds to ryanodine receptors, located on the sarcoplasmic reticulum membrane, and increases the release of calcium ions. It is used as a pharmacological intervention to shift the resting membrane potential of sinoatrial nodes in the heart and regulate automaticity in cardiac muscle. SCH 66336 also blocks caffeine binding to adenosine receptors and reduces its ability to increase the membrane potential and contractility of cardiac cells.
