Product Information
- 3-n-Octadecylthiophene
3-Octadecylthiophene is a hydrophobic, semiconducting polymer. It has a high viscosity at room temperature and can be used in microscopy to increase the resolution of images by reducing the depth of field. This material displays a red shift in its nmr spectra as it is heated, which indicates that 3-octadecylthiophene is an oriented polymer. The fluorescence of 3-octadecylthiophene quenches when it is cooled below -10°C and becomes dark blue. This material's optical properties are also affected by its orientation and conformation.
