Octadecylphosphophosphoniumcholine is an antimicrobial agent that disrupts the membrane of bacteria or other microorganisms. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses. Octadecylphosphophosphoniumcholine can also be used to treat infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This drug has been shown to promote the release of exosomes from human lymphocytes, which may help to protect against infection.
