- 9H-Carbazole, 9-(oxiranylmethyl)-
9-(Oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-9H-carbazole is a bifunctional monomer that can be polymerized to form polymers with cationic charge. It has been shown to have optical properties that change with the concentration of polymerization. Polymerization occurs at high concentrations and the resulting polymer is a mixture of polymers with different molecular weights, which are formed by transfer reactions. 9-(Oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-9H-carbazole undergoes hydrogen bonding interactions and can form intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which may contribute to its reactive behaviour. Kinetic studies have shown that this compound undergoes transfer reactions, which may also contribute to its reactivity. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy has shown that 9-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-9H-carbazole is an electrochemically active material and has a kinetic rate that is dependent on the concentration of polymerization.
