[1,3]Oxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol is a fluorescing molecule that can be synthesized manually. It has been shown to have fluorescence properties and can be used for the detection of inorganic acids. The reaction of [1,3]oxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol with dipole molecules such as azides or phosphites leads to the formation of alkylating thione compounds. This reaction is reversible and can be used for the synthesis of phosphoramidites from these thiones. Reaction with acetonitrile leads to protonation and the formation of an azide. This reaction is also reversible and can be used to obtain nitrosobenzenes from these azides.
