Product Information

Name:
(1R)-Octahydro-2H-quinolizin-1-ylmethanol
Synonyms:
  • 2H-quinolizine-1-methanol
  • octahydro-
  • (1R)-
Description:

(1R)-Octahydro-2H-quinolizin-1-ylmethanol (1) is an inhibitor molecule that binds to the enzyme HADH, which catalyzes the last step of the biosynthetic pathway for alkaloids. This compound has been shown to inhibit the production of alkaloids in plants by binding to HADH and inhibiting its activity. The effects are due to a conformational change in the active site of HADH, which alters its ability to bind substrate molecules. In addition, this compound has been shown to inhibit coumarin derivatives when used as a substrate for HADH in vitro.
