Description:
4-Oxo-3,4-dihydrophthalazine-1-carboxamide is a nitro and nitroimidazole derivative that is a potent inhibitor of the protein kinases. The 4-oxo group on this molecule provides the necessary electron density to coordinate with the metal ion of the active site, thus inhibiting activity. The presence of methoxy groups on the phenyl ring and fluoro groups on the phenyl ring provide additional steric hindrance to prevent removal of the inhibitor from the active site. This compound has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo, as well as induce apoptosis.
