Description

4-(4-Oxo-2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-3-yl)butanoic acid is a hydrogen bond donor. It has been shown to stabilize the chain by forming hydrogen bonds with the carboxyl group of the substrate. The alkyl chain is stabilized by intermolecular interactions with the substrate. 4-(4-Oxo-2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-3-yl)butanoic acid has been used as a pharmacological tool for studying interactions between different drugs. This drug has also been shown to have interactions with substrates that are related to its chemical structure, such as xanthine and caffeine.
