(3S)-3-Aminodihydro-2(3H-furanone is a synthetic amino acid with a primary amine group. It is used in the synthesis of peptides and other organic compounds. (3S)-3-Aminodihydro-2(3H-furanone reacts with chloroformate to form an acyl chloroformate, which reacts with acetonitrile to form an amide. The reaction time and flow rate can be adjusted by the concentration of reactants. The product is isolated using chromatography or centrifugation. (3S)-3-Aminodihydro-2(3H-furanone has been shown to inhibit gram negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium. The mechanism of action is not yet known
