Description:

Octylmagnesium chloride is a phase transfer catalyst that can be used in the synthesis of fatty acids. It has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the reaction of aromatic hydrocarbons with magnesium, which has led to its use in the production of β-unsaturated ketones. Octylmagnesium chloride is also an effective inhibitor of some enzymes, such as esterases and lipases, which may be useful in pharmaceutical applications. The particle size and solubility of octylmagnesium chloride are both dependent on the temperature at which it is dissolved in THF. This product should not be used for any purpose other than those specified on this label.
