9-Oxo-9H-xanthene-2-carboxylic acid is a sodium salt of 9-oxo-9H-xanthene-2-carboxylic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of carboxylase enzymes, which are involved in the production of many biologically important compounds. By inhibiting these enzymes, 9OXOAC can be used in the treatment of endometriosis and women with high levels of transthyretin amyloidosis. However, this drug has also been shown to cause allergic reactions in some patients and may lead to dry weight loss or dehydration when used for a prolonged period.
