Oxazole-4-carboxamide is a cyclic peptide that belongs to the class of amides. It has been shown to have antiplatelet activity in human blood platelets and to inhibit the growth of invertebrates. Oxazole-4-carboxamide also inhibits the production of nitric oxide by human lung cells, which may be due to its chloride channel blocking properties. The compound has been shown to be effective against certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin resistant strains, in vivo.
