Octahydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrazine is a neurotoxic chemical that has been shown to inhibit the activity of serotonin and dopamine receptors. It has also been shown to be an agonist for adenosine A1 receptors, but not for κ-opioid receptors. Octahydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrazine has been shown to cause hyperactivity by binding to dopamine receptors in rats. This compound also acts as an antidepressant by blocking the reuptake of serotonin at synapses. Octahydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrazine is a piperazine derivative that can be synthesized through an asymmetric synthesis process.
Octahydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrazine binds with high affinity to the benzoyl benzoate receptor site
